Weisker also was the leading doctor there. The complex was significantly expanded in 1927 in contemporary functional style, which makes up the bulk of the buildings today. Beginning in 1940 it was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers until the end of the Second World War. During the times of the GDR, it was exclusively used as a military hospital for the Red Army, until it was abandoned after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1990. The structure slowly deteriorated afterwards, even though there were numerous attempts to repurpose the buildings, but to no avail. Only one building on the area is currently used as residential housing, with the rest being left to urban explorers. Weisker also was the leading doctor there. The complex was significantly expanded in 1927 in contemporary functional style, which makes up the bulk of the buildings today. Beginning in 1940 it was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers until the end of the Second World War. During the times of the GDR, it was exclusively used as a military hospital for the Red Army, until it was abandoned after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1990. The structure slowly deteriorated afterwards, even though there were numerous attempts to repurpose the buildings, but to no avail. Only one building on the area is currently used as residential housing, with the rest being left to urban explorers.
