The stadium was built in the early 1920s and originally named the Rudislebener Sportplatz. In 1933, it was renamed after German field marshal Walther von Brauchitsch, who was a prominent figure in the Nazi Party. In the 1970s, the stadium underwent a major renovation and expansion, including the addition of new stands and a running track. It became the home stadium of the local football club, BSG Motor Ichtershausen-Rudisleben The football stand housed a restaurant called &#8216;Zum feuchten Elfmeter&#8217;.
