Train station Zschopau

The city of Zschopau was connected to the new train line “Zschopautalbahn” in the year 1866 leading to the construction of the main train station. During the GDR it also served as the freight handling point for the delivery of MZ motorcycles, of which the factory was also located in the city. MZ was closed down by the Treuhand in 1991 and the freight handling function of the train station lost importance. A part of the station was demolished in 2007. In its last years before abandonment the building housed a couple of tenants. It’s unclear when the last person left but we estimate it was around 2010.
