We recreated the abandoned Sargfabrik Feuerstein, located in Schwarzatal (Thuringia) in heavily modded Minecraft. This time we didn’t do an exact historic replica of the real-world building but made some sort of renovation concept for it. It’s made with Chisels&Bits which allows us to split full blocks in 16×16 (1/16 of a meter) separate pixels and achieve high precision for a very accurate interpretation of the real-world location. We tried to stay somewhat realistic with the new ideas for the buildings. The indoor floorplan is changed and reimagined but based on the original and what could be possible in real life. The buildings itself are nearly identical from the outside to the real-world counterpart and at the limit of what is possible in Minecraft. After a lot of time spent on this project, we are finally satisfied with the result and decided it is worth sharing. At last the buildings which decay further and further in real life are digitally preserved for eternity now.

Wir haben die verlassene Sargfabrik Feuerstein aus dem Schwarzatal (Thüringen) in einer stark modifizierten Version von Minecraft nachgebaut. Diesmal haben wir uns nicht für eine originalgetreue historische Nachbildung entschieden, sondern die Gebäude und das Grundstück nach einer Art Renovierungskonzept gestaltet. Es ist hauptsächlich mit dem Mod Chisels&Bits entstanden, welcher es uns erlaubt volle Blöcke in 16×16 Pixel (1/16 von einem Meter) aufzuteilen und somit einen hohen Detailgrad für eine genaue Wiedergabe des echten Ortes zu erreichen. Der Grundriss ist abgeändert und neu interpretiert, bezieht sich jedoch auf das Original und dem im echten Leben Möglichen. Das Äußere ist den echten Gebäudefassaden nahezu exakt nachempfunden und bewegt sich am Limit von dem, was in Minecraft möglich ist. Nach langer Zeit die wir mit dem Projekt verbracht haben, sind wir endlich zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis und haben entschieden, dass das Bauwerk es wert ist geteilt zu werden. Glücklicherweise sind die Gebäude, welche in der Realität weiter und weiter verfallen, nun digital für die Ewigkeit erhalten.
