The holiday camp was constructed during the beginning of the GDR and was run by the factory VEB WMF Königsee. It was a place to provide a holiday location for workers of the factory, but also for pioneers from the pioneer organization ‘Ernst Thälmann’. It closed down after the end of the GDR.
