Capturing decay.

Clock factory Gebrüder Thiel

The company Gebr. Thiel. GmbH, a clock producer from the neighboring city Ruhla, built the factory in the year 1932. This new factory expanded their production capacities and provided work for many people in the region. About 10 years later during the 2nd world war, soviet slave laborer had to produce time fuses in the facility. After the war, the factory owners got expropriated and it now belonged to the new GDR. The name was changed to VEB Uhrenwerk Klement Gottwald. It produces all types of watches and clocks during the time of the GDR. After the fall of the iron curtain, the factory was reformed as the Eurochron GmbH in 1990. We assume the factory got closed down in the late 2010s due to the dates of the calendars in the building. In the year 2020 a fire broke out on the top floor and damaged the once pristine building.
