Strumpffabrik G.Bahner

In 1911, Gustav Adolf Bahner founded his own hosiery factory under his name in Lichtenstein, near Zwickau. He was the son of Adolf Bahner and therefore belonged to the prominent Bahner family, which had established itself in the region’s knitting industry. Both his father and his brother already operated hosiery factories that helped shape Oberlungwitz and the surrounding area at the time. Following the Second World War, the company was nationalized and incorporated into the “VEB Feinstrumpfwerke Oberlungwitz”. In the early 1970s, it became part of the Kombinat ESDA based in Thalheim. With the German reunification in 1990, production at the Lichtenstein factory came to an end, as the knitting machines were shut down and the company was liquidated.
