Capturing decay.

Railway bridge Ziemestalbrücke

The 115 meter and 32 meter high railway bridge was built in 1893. Due to the high transportation costs, stones weren’t an option, so they used steel, which was the most modern building material at the time. It took 1 year to finish the bridge and it was tested by 3 locomotives in June 1895. During its over 100 years of usage, it was reinforced and renovated several times. The railway line crossing the bridge was closed down around 2006. However, the bridge is protected by monument protection and can’t be demolished.
