The brewery was founded in 1882 by merchant Maximillian Speck and produced beer under the name ‘Sternburg’ since then. It got closed down on the 31. August 1991 despite local resistence. The brewing equipment was moved to the brewery Reudnitz which also bought the brand itself. The chimney of the old factory was demolished in 1995 while the other buildings are left to decay to this day.
