Train Station Kaulsdorf

On the 20th of December 1871 the ‘Thüringische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft’ opened it’s 77 kilometers long train line from Gera to Kaulsdorf. The first station building was constructed together with the train station and was a timbered house. In the year 1885 the second building seen in the pictures below was built. It has a form of an H and was constructed out of bricks. It had a ticket counter and several waiting rooms for the passengers. Later a freight shed was added to the building. Nowadays, the station buildings both are closed to the public, but the train station itself remains opened.
