The building which is called ‘Schiesshaus’ by the locals was built during the time of the GDR. It was a recreation home for workers of the VEB Nähmaschinenwerke Altenburg. After the end of the GDR the factory got privatized and got the name ‘Altin’ while the recreation home was renamed to ‘Altin Erholungsheim’. It was run as a hotel during the 90s. However, the number of guests decreased further and further, leading up to its closure in the early 2000s.
