Capturing decay.

Kulturhaus Richard Schiller

The building was built in 1937 as a ‘Kameradschaftshaus’ which was used by the national socialist student union Kameradschaft. After the 2nd world war it was used as a restaurant till the year 1957. During this time it became the Kulturhaus ‘Richard Schiller’ and belonged to the VEB Papierfabrik Greiz. It was used a place for live music, exhibitions and presentations. When the iron curtain fell in 1990 and the GDR ceased to exist, it was turned into a nightclub with the name ‘Schiller’. On the 23rd of May 2021 the whole building was set on fire, destroying almost everything of it.
