Capturing decay.

Pionierhaus Bruno Kühn

The building was part of the first ducal golf hotel which was opened in 1912 in Oberhof. In 1952, the hotel was given a new purpose and name as the “Pionierhaus Bruno Kühn.” For three weeks each year, young pioneers were cared for here, attending classes in the morning and engaging in sports activities in the afternoon.

Fourteen years later, parts of the building fell victim to a fire, which led to the planning of a modern replacement building for the pioneer house. It was completed in 1983 and today serves as a retirement home. The former pioneer house was nevertheless repaired, but with the end of the GDR it was finally abandoned and now is decaying further and further everyday.
