The malt factory was founded by Viktor Grimm in 1889. The factory was expropriated in 1953 and renamed in ‘VEB Malz- & Nährmittelfabrik Gössnitz’. After the factory was integrated in the ‘VEB Altenburger Brauerei’ it produced malt beer till 1990. It got closed down immediately after the end of the GDR.
