The hotel was built in 1986 and served as a vacation home for the VEB Braunkohlewerke Borna. Just after 4 years times changed, the GDR didn’t exist anymore and all its vacation homes closed down or were turned into hotels. The latter happened to this building. It got renamed into Hotel ‘Glück Auf’ and run as a regular hotel. It’s unclear when it closed down, but we expect it to have happened somewhere in the late 90s. The building was set on fire multiple time, but the biggest and most devastating fire happened in November 2020. Almost everything in the hotel burned, leaving half of the roof destroyed and many rooms black due to the soot.
