Till 1945 the facility was named Anhaltische Kohlenwerke and in the early years of the GDR ‘VEB Teerverarbeitungswerk Köpsen’. The factory changed name in 1955 and from then on operated under the name VEB Paraffinwerk “Vorwärts” Webau. The main product it produced was paraffin wax.
Note: As we found out during our exploration, the factory is still in use and operating despite the many destroyed roofs which can be seen on the satellite images. We went out immediately after we noticed this, leading only to a few pictures.
